FAQ - Wii Retailers

20-04-07: Although there are still shortages of Nintendo Wii's, some niche video game retailers have new stock arriving each week fulfilling back-orders first, with the remainder being swiftly sold. Allocation of pre-orders is strictly on a first come first served basis. Few retailers will guarantee when they will be delivered, places like gamestation could delivery your package three days later, or telephone you and ask you when you want to collect. As another word of warning - all Wii hardware is in short supply and high demand too. The cost of a much needed second player's Wii remote starts from £29.00. However, the stock is just as limited, particularly if you want to get your hands on a copy of Wii Play the game which includes a Wii remote for a bargain price of £32.97 (prices and availability subject to change) .

Nintendo Wii UK Launch: Wii's in high demand

08-12-06: Shortages of Nintendo Wii consoles in  the UK have left some gamers who pre-ordered the new machine deeply disappointed. Nintendo, has typically already launched the machine in the US and Japan and predict a sell out of Wii on the first day of Europe sales. More than four million Nintendo Wii have been exported globally. 600,000 Wii games consoles have been sold in North America already! Apparently three times more than the number of Sony PS3 games consoles sold there. Pre Christmas Sales for the Xbox 360 are still strong, but not as Microsoft had predicted. UK news stations have been e-mailed by gamers disappointed that pre-orders for the machine have not been fulfilled.

The Wii can play games from a Gamecube providing both are UK spec (PAL). Wii consoles and games that are not PAL, can't be converted easily, so make sure you check the regions if you are considering buying imports.
